How to use

Quick steps

1. Click Start (or press R) and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
2. While recording, you can Pause (or press P) and resume. Click Stop (or press S) to finish.
3. Choose desired output from the Save as menu: WAV, MP3, or Both.
4. After stopping, use the Download WAV and/or Download MP3 buttons. Edit the filename (no extension) before downloading.

Details & notes

• WAV: PCM 16-bit, full quality, browser-generated, good for editing and archiving.
• MP3: Encoded client-side using LameJS. Default 128 kbps CBR. Smaller files, widely compatible.
• Security: Everything happens in your browser — no upload to a server unless you choose to add that later.
• Browser requirements: Use Chrome / Edge for best support. Firefox supports it too; mobile support varies.

Troubleshooting

1. If the browser denies microphone permission: refresh the page, click the lock icon in address bar and allow microphone access, then retry.
2. If recordings sound quiet or clipped: check system microphone gain and try again. You can increase playback volume in your player.
3. If the MP3 button is slow: encoding MP3 is CPU work on the client — large recordings may take a few seconds to encode.
4. Use HTTPS or localhost. Plain HTTP will likely block mic access.
